Recent Delights, Vol 15. Eat. Eat. Eat.
Some wonderful oysters brought to our annual Ukrainian Christmas meal by our friend Christine Comeau. Most people had them with lemon slices but I, of course, had to have mine with a few drops of hot sauce.
Totally slammin’ salmon. Five different types of smoked salmon are arranged on a plate as a fish course for our Ukrainian Christmas dinner from our friend Dan Tanaka. The reddish one is soaked in beet juice! All of it was great. Charlotte County’s finest!
Twenty people for dinner? No problem. Cabbage rolls, perogies, borscht, nalynsnyky, honey bread, pickles and much more was on the menu for Ukrainian Christmas. And don’t forget the vodka!
This exceedingly ugly mess was the result of a slightly messed up loaf of bread, mangled sausage and slightly overcooked egg. Delicious!
More memories of Montreal. Just a few doors down from Schwartz’s Charcuterie (see next post below), Lisa found an amazing deli where she dropped $90 on various awesome things. We’re still working our way through it all.
Kimchi and rice. This great Korean combo makes for a super simple, healthy and satisfying lunch. Nice with lots of sesame seeds too!
More hot kimchi action. Serve with sexy eggs, then become more sexy. That’s how it works.
Latte and a little cinnamon roll. A mid-morning snack one day. My mommy got us a hot chocolate-making kit a while back and one of the pieces of the kit is a battery-operated, tiny whizzer thing that works incredibly well for frothing milk. Just nuke some milk, whiz it up, then add coffee, a bit of sugar and cinnamon. Then charge $6.95 and watch people pay. Just watch.
Pizza with cheese all on one side. Can you see that? It’s pizza with all the cheese on one side.
Oh bugger – I thought that’s what she said. Check on that and have a report on my desk by 9 am. Thanks.
I think you had a few drops of vodka on your oysters too
were those really from the Yarmouth area?
Thanks barb!
Mike, your food is aesthetically pleasing.
Thanks for posting excellent photos.
