Recent Delights Vol. 18. Rockin’ the homemade grub, spring 2011, yo.

The Saturday Burger.  If you have the day off and you want a burger, you are required to make the bun yourself.  These are the rules and I suggest you follow them. We don’t need any trouble here.

Thai noodles with basil and my own super funky fermented kimchi.

It’s good to be a brat.  A lovely bratwurst from Dean’s Meats in the Saint John City Market with New Brunswick-made sauerkraut and fried onions.  Oh and if you look closely, there’s mustard.

My first rib of the BBQ season.  Smoked for a couple of hours then finished in the oven to deeper pentrate the smokey flavour and blah, blah, blah, it was an awesome rib and I had beer with it.

Great news! Spring clean-up week starts today in the KV so there’s still time to put your propane grill at the curb and buy a proper charcoal barbecue.  I love being the one who gets to spread good news!

Thin crust pizza.  Simple, stupidly good.

Just for the porn. Maple syrup on pancakes and sausage from Elmhurst Outdoors on the Kingston Peninsula.  Gotta have syrup at this sausage fest.

The incredible Egyptian dish, koushari.  A lightly-spiced mix of rice and lentils topped with chick peas, pasta, crisp-fried onions and a tangy tomato sauce.  Taught to me by some wonderful Egyptian friends.  Amazing!
